The Vision:2025 pledge has been used by hundreds of organisations as a framework for action, but now it’s time to stretch climate ambition for new horizons.
The project was established in 2010 by festival promoters and environmental organisations as the outdoor event industry’s forum to promote climate action through the provision of free-to-access knowledge and resources. In 2015, the group published the first Show Must Go On report which launched the ‘Vision: 2025’ – a roadmap to support event organisers to reduce their climate impacts by 50% by 2025 in line with the UK Government’s climate commitments at that time.
This year will see the launch of the Show Must Go On #3, which brings together work from across the sector to create a Climate Transition Plan 2030 for the Live Events Industry: a clear and bold climate vision, providing an evidence base for action and advocacy for Government support on policy and funding.
Vision for Sustainable Events now represents over 1,000 event businesses through industry body stakeholders and leaders in the field of sustainability. We are:
Sustainable Events Vision: Climate Transition Plan to 2030, launching this year and designed through the cross industry working group including: Vision, A Greener Future, Association for Independent Festivals, Betternotstop, Cheltenham Festivals, Festival Republic, Hope Solutions, Julie’s Bicycle and LIVE UK.
Sustainable Events Forum: The outdoor event’s industry’s official steering group for Sustainability, comprised of leading event companies and experts: Julie’s Bicycle, Festival Republic, The Association of Independent Festivals (AIF), The National Outdoor Events Association (NOEA), The Production Services Association (PSA), Powerful Thinking, Without Walls, The Nationwide Caterers Association (NCASS), The South Coast Events Forum, Soliphilia, The Fair, Betternotstop, Attitude is Everything, The East Anglian Festival Network, LS Events.
Sustainable Events Summit: Vision’s annual free-to-attend action-focused summit, featured by The Showman’s Show, which presents the latest research tools and knowledge to bring outdoor event organisers, suppliers, local authorities and experts together, driving collaborative resource development, industry standards, best practice and innovation, inspiring action and shaping the industry response to the climate emergency for UK events.
Sustainable Suppliers Directory: Promoting and celebrating suppliers that have demonstrated meaningful, proactive measures to reduce their carbon impact through their products and working practices, and those who offer innovative and efficient solutions. From power provision to toilets to trackway you can find suppliers who are on your side to reduce the impacts of your events.
