Instagrid wins product of the year award for clean portable power solution

Portable power specialist Instagrid has won Product of the Year at the 2026 European Rental Awards (ERA), as rental companies continue to invest in its professional-grade battery systems over traditional generators.

The advanced battery technology specialist won the prestigious award for its Instagrid ONE (230v) and Instagrid GO (110v) portable power units at the ERA awards held in Maastricht, Netherlands.

In the highly competitive Product of the Year category, the ERA committee evaluated entries on their innovation, sustainability, scalability, and ability to deliver future-proof value and return on investment. As Europe’s premier awards programme for the equipment rental industry, the ERA Awards also place strong emphasis on products designed and manufactured within Europe.

Instagrid’s One and Go portable power units delivered on all judging criteria, with 60,000 units sold globally to-date, offering a direct professional-grade alternative to traditional generator power.

Trusted by major rental partners including Kiloutou, Sunbelt Rental and Loxam, the zero emission and zero noise units are already providing popular with thousands of professionals who work off grid, with many users commenting ‘once you use an Instagrid unit in place of a small generator – you don’t go back’.

Sander Spooler, Head of Sales, Benelux and Charlotte Evans, Senior Country Marketing Manager, UK were on hand to collect the award.

“We would like to thank the ERA for this honour, and we are thrilled to represent our founders Andreas Sedlmayr and Sebastian Berning who made portable, professional-grade battery power a reality,” said Spooler.

“By investing in safer, cleaner worksites our rental partners are driving real change across our industry, delivering cleaner power to customers across multiple sectors. Looking ahead, Instagrid is committed to delivering tangible change through ongoing technological innovation, ensuring our partners can work safely, independently and sustainably.”

Amid rising fuel costs, and as the international community works towards achieving Net Zero in line with the Paris Agreement, there has been an increase in demand for cleaner off-grid power solutions.

Diesel generators have long been the go-to choice for on-site power supply in sectors including construction, events, TV and film production and utility services. However, prioritising cleaner, quieter, more cost-effective and safer solutions has led many companies to switch to portable battery power systems instead, with the rental market leading the way in reshaping off-grid energy use.

By choosing Instagrid’s advanced portable power supply solutions over combustion generators, customers worldwide have been empowered to reduce their carbon footprint and help avoid 1 million tonnes of potential CO2e emissions over the lifetime of the equipment.

The data, highlighted in Instagrid’s latest Impact Report, reflects a collective shift in how organisations access off-grid and rental power.
